Recent power outages in the Baltimore area have led to a rash of imposters claiming to be utility company employees who have been stealing money and other valuables from homeowners. Baltimore Gas and Electric’s vice president and chief customer officer, Jeannette Mills, reminds customers that they won’t be receiving a personal visit from the company unless it’s a verifiable emergency, and actual employees always have a photo ID, which should always be requested. She says, “Customers can always call BGE to verify [that] an individual visiting their home is a BGE employee.” Never provide credit card numbers to callers or any stranger at your door.
