Adapting Gas-Fired Power to a Greener Grid

General Electric recently announced new models of natural gas burning plants that are built to adapt to the changing energy structure as green energy gets introduced more aggressively into our utilities. The new generators are built like jet engines placed in a combined cycle to reach a little over 61% efficiency in burning natural gas. Efficiency is the main goal of the new line of generators, not just in how much energy can be brought from the gas, but in how quickly the generators can change their output to balance the energy supply based on renewable sources.
